About Us

We are Travis and Jodi, and have a small breeding program, located in South Dakota. Though we are fairly new to the Toy and Mini Aussie, we are very familiar with the Australian Shepherd. We learn more and more each day about the Toy and Mini version of this breed. They are a small dog, but have the personality and characteristics of their much larger counterparts. These beautiful animals are known for their personalities and loyalty to their families. They have an excellent breeding background, and we hope to be able to bring that to you. We know that once you have experienced the love and devotion of a Toy or Mini Aussie, your heart belongs to them. To love a dog, and have that love returned to you, is a very special part of your soul that will remain with you always.

Dakota Toy Aussies - Travis

Travis: I grew up in Northwest Iowa on a farm. I attended college, and in 1997, graduated with an Ag-Business. I manage two hog farms, and not to mention, our cattle. Jodi and I have 5 children, ages 6, 5, 4, 3 and 1 years of age. We live near Fairview, South Dakota, and raise a variety of animals. These include hogs, Holstein steers, beef calves, chickens, cats, goats, and these wonderful little Aussies. They love being around all the other animals as much as we do.

Dakota Toy Aussies - Jodi

Jodi: I grew up on a ranch in Western South Dakota. My family raised Red Angus cows. We kept between 300-400 cows at all times. We rode horses to round them up, and to check on them during calving time. We always had a milk cow, sheep and dogs. I attended college at South Dakota State University, and took many classes in Animal Science. I ended up graduating with my degree in Horticulture in 1998. I went back to the ranch for another year, before moving to Randolph, Wisconsin. There, I went to work for Jung Seed Company, as the perennial propagator. This means I started and grew all of the perennials for the catalog and retail store. When I met and married Travis, back to South Dakota we came. We now live on this wonderful farm, and enjoy our children and all of our beloved animals, and lead a rich and full happy life.

Dakota Toy Aussies - Zoe

This is Zoe, our oldest daughter.  She'll be in second grade this year and just turned seven.  She's a big help with the dog chores and inside chores as well.  This is one of her favorite puppies (Lucy).  She carries all the aussie puppies around and considers them as her "babies".  The aussies aren't bothered at all and love all the attention.

Dakota Toy Aussies - Emily and Gidget

This is Emily our second oldest.  Emily is five and is going to be in kindergarten this year.  She's in a lot of our pictures because she's always playing either with the adult aussies or the puppies.  She's an energetic little thing and keeps me motivated.  Her favorite puppies were Clifford and Little Princess.  She really missed them when they went to their new homes.

Dakota Toy Aussies - Peirce with puppy This is Peirce our oldest boy.  Peirce is four years old and had his first Sunday school this year.  Peirce is my second hand man!  He's always following me around and keeping track of the aussie puppies.  Catching them can be a challenge sometimes and they like to hide under the horse trailer.  He loves to do the farm and puppy chores and I appreciate all the help he gives!  He also loves to carry at least one puppy around showing them the interesting things on a farm.

Dakota Toy Aussies - Reid with puppy

This is Reid our second oldest son.  Reid is three and is the quiet one of the bunch.  He doesn't like to talk much and  loves to "help" mom but I find a lot of things missing I once had! He also loves to carry the aussie puppies but they are about as big as he is!

Daktoa Toy Aussies - Boyd

This is my baby boy Boyd.  He's one and a half years old already!  He absolutely adores the dogs and puppies.  He sits on our black lab (Grover) and hugs and kisses him.  He also likes to carry the aussie puppies, but they don't always like it!  He will  follow me around the farm doing chores, just like the dogs.
